STORY OF EZU RIVER IN ANAMBRA STATE

It has been a tough week exploring and unearthing the tourism potentials in Anambra state
Our first stop for the week was at Iyiocha lake Amaokpala in Orumba North L.G.A were we discovered that the lake visited the town in form of a human being and requested for a place to farm which the town offered him, unknown to them that the man who was asking for empty land is not a human being, we also learnt that the lake forbids dumping of refuse in it and people should not defecate around it. it also believed that any Oko man or woman who comes close to it will be drown because Oko people refused to give him land when he first visited them.
The second was at Ufuma still in Orumba north the town has 3 caves and one of the cave is been inhabited by lion (Agu) which the town still offer some scarify to it as the gods of the land.
From Ufuma we headed to Akpu in Orumba south L.A.G, where they have another beautiful cave named Omashi iyi that is close peoples house, it is believed that the cave offer protection to its people and adherents.
Our final stop in Anambra south was a visit to Ogbaukwu Owelle Ezukala, a town that has the highest waterfall in South East Nigeria and one of the biggest cave in Nigeria. The cave links to Awgu & Awlaw both in Enugu state, it also came out in Abia state where they have Abia state University in Uturu Okaigwe.
From Anambra South we headed to Anambra North our first stop was the Obu Gad. According to Eze Chukwuemeka Eri he said that the Igbo's stated from Eri and Eri is the fifty son of Gad while Gad is the seventh son of Jacob. we also meant to understand that Edo which is the present Edo state is from Aguleri and an Igbo man who migrated to Edo embarked on a journey to the present Ife which is in Ibadan and settled there, before his departure he told his people that he going to IFE which means is going somewhere, that was how the name Ife came about. In Nigeria the two major languages yoruba and hausa has Igbo language in it
In Aguleri history has it that the popular Igboukwu Bronze Pot of 9th Century AD was from the palace of OBU GAD, it was during the expedition by the Portuguese who where trying all they could to take away the bronze pot and other artifacts, that lead the Aguleri people to look for big bush where they can hide the objects, it made them to take it to ORA - ERI forest, it was during the inter community war that Igboukwu people defeated Ora-Eri which made them to took over their land, that was how the popular Igboukwu bronze pot came about.
Still trying to unearth the myth behind the Igbo origin, we were taken to the place where the Igbos came from and where could that be? it was where EZU RIVER AND OMABALA RIVER joined together, there you will see the real Ofor Igbo, not the popular stick we see but this time a stone, the Eze Aguleri is the only one who has it, we also gathered that before he became the Eze, the mother who gave birth to him died 3 days after giving birth to him and his dad died after 6 days, he said that for you to be the Eze you will not have anybody you will call your dad or mum.
Still in Aguleri, we came across the 5 star of David we learnt that it was the first money used by Nigeria and up till date the 5 star of David is still in Aguleri at the Palace of EZE ERI, it has been confirmed by Archaeologist and Ethnographers.
We are still Exploring.... Experience the culture, feel the people, see, live, love Anambra State.
